My cinematographer Annie Waldman and I are making a documentary about adolescent girls in eating disorder/psychiatric treatment facilities. We've been given permission to shoot at a residential facility in Malibu, CA called Monte Nido, and we are trying to get ourselves there by April to take advantage of this opportunity. As such, we've started a website explaining everything, and it's here: http://www.stacypershall.com
We are trying to get 50,000 people to donate $1 to the cause. Donations can be made through paypal or through my literary agency. We plan to teach the girls who participate to shoot Super 8 film, and to use their films as part of the documentary. We will leave each girl with a camera, as we firmly believe that the only way to recover from an ED is to find an alternate passion that's as strong as the passion for self-harm.
If you would be willing to send this out to your mailing list, post a myspace or facebook bulletin, put it in your blog, and/or make the URL your email signature, it would help us tremendously. I'm even hand-knitting hats for anyone who donates $100 or more! Please help us spread the word and save lives. Thank you!

Sounds like a worthwhile cause.
Where do you plan on getting the super-8 cameras from?
